◆ It is unusual to find a piece manufactured in one period and decorated at another one. This vase is even more unusual due to the six different poses of the cockerels which make no sense as a decorative piece. We are inclined to consider one of the following uses:

1. an apprentice/exam piece;

2. as a pattern to be copied during the early Qianlong reign when tea sets were manufactured in eggshell porcelain using two of these figures.
